GRAPHIC DESIGN MINOR
Visual literacy and design skills are increasingly important in the fields of journalism and communications. In this minor, you learn to see and think about the important role of design in all forms of media.
No matter your field of study—digital storytelling, television production, arts and culture reporting, feature writing, investigative reporting—an understanding of graphic design helps you tell a more compelling story and gives you an edge in the job market.
What to expect
In this minor, you learn how to integrate your writing with the visual language of design. Through a balance of practice-based, hands-on and theory-driven courses, you learn to develop graphic design solutions that address the objectives of specific project briefs. You apply basic graphic design processes, methods and industry-standard tools to specific scenarios, learning to see and think about design in new ways.
