Psychiatric nurses promote mental and physical health and well-being. They provide holistic, client-centred support to people with complex mental health needs. This diploma prepares you for challenges and opportunities within a multidisciplinary health care environment.
Registered psychiatric nurses have played an important role in health care in Canada for more than 80 years and are the largest group of health care professionals in the mental health field.
Certification
After the successful completion of the first two years of the Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing, you can exit the program with a diploma in psychiatric nursing. With this diploma, you are eligible to write the Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Canada Examination and apply to become a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN).
If you plan to complete the diploma option, you need to apply to the four-year Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing.
