BACHELOR of SCIENCE in NURSING

PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY

Four philosophical perspectives provide a foundation for the BScN program:

  • Critical social theory
  • Humanism
  • Logical positivism
  • Phenomenology

These perspectives support a motivation towards social and political action; an orientation towards growth, learning and individual accountability in a spirit of trust, respect, and compassion; evidence as a basis for practice; and a focus on the person as they experience nursing practice in health and illness.

Faculty members utilize individual and unique expertise and passion for teaching to support you through a variety of structured and unstructured learning activities. Faculty members act as learner facilitators and partners, promoting learning for individuals and groups by introducing you to the realities of nursing and the society in which health care is delivered.
