Alethea: AI-powered academic coach in mêskanâs

Alethea is an AI-powered academic coaching tool that helps students engage more deeply with assigned readings.

Now available as an activity in mêskanâs, Alethea flips the script on the misuse of AI tools and supports critical reading and comprehension by combining proven learning strategies with generative AI. It’s designed to foster meaningful interaction with scholarly content, especially in reading-intensive courses.

Mentimeter

MacEwan has an enterprise license for the interactive presentation software, Mentimeter. This license is available to faculty, staff and students. To access Mentimeter, go to Mentimeter.com, click Log in, and log in with SSO using your MacEwan credentials. If you have an existing account, it will automatically be ported over and you will receive an email from Mentimeter advising you that your account has been upgraded to MacEwan’s enterprise license.

H5P

H5P is an open-source tool for creating interactive learning content such as quizzes, videos, presentations and practice activities. Faculty can embed H5P directly into the learning management system and open textbooks developed through MacEwan Open Books (Pressbooks), so it's easy to integrate engaging, accessible and reusable activities into courses and materials.

Pressbooks

Pressbooks is an open-source publishing platform for creating, editing and sharing open textbooks and course materials. MacEwan Open Books, the university’s publishing platform that uses Pressbooks, allows faculty and staff to collaboratively develop accessible web-based teaching and learning resources and export them in multiple formats (e.g., PDF, EPUB) for flexible use.
