PRIVATE LESSONS | HARP

conservatory instructor
My students are encouraged to participate in competitions and festivals, and I see the three ensembles I coach as a way for harpists to become team players rather than soloists – learning about timing, expression and working together.

About

Keri Lynn has been teaching harp to students young and old since 1998. Private lessons are available online as well as in person at her "harp shack" located in central Edmonton.

With a Bachelor of Music in classical harp, Keri Lynn gives students a strong technical background. Her broad range of experience allows her teach everything from Celtic repertoire, to Latin Harp technique to the Royal Conservatory harp syllabus.

In the summer of 2018, she completed her teaching training for volume 1 harp and became the only Suzuki harp teacher between Vancouver and Ontario. This method allows for students to start as young as 4 years old and includes group lessons alongside private instruction. In 2021, Keri completed her volume 2 teacher training.

Keri Lynn also specializes in teaching adult beginners and has offered a 6 week “learn to play the folk harp” class every year since 2018. In addition to guiding students in traditional repertoire, she teaches arranging and composing and being a vocalist herself, encourages students to learn how to accompany their singing.
She tours internationally with David Wilkie’s band Cowboy Celtic, plays second harp with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and leads a trio of musicians in her solo project “HarpRouge.”

Keri Lynn has independently released three CD’s of her arrangements of traditional music that feature her gaelic-styled vocals and Alberta-built carbon fibre harp.
