The Correctional Services diploma provides you with a comprehensive theoretical and practical education—one that helps you develop the skills, knowledge and experience that you need to become a criminal justice professional.

With courses in sociology, criminology, and psychology; foundational courses in criminal law, criminal justice, youth justice, addiction, restorative practices, and correctional systems; and specialized skill development in correctional methods and practice, interviewing, and counselling, the Correctional Services program gives you a sound foundation on which to build a successful career.

On campus or online

You can complete the Correctional Services program in two ways.

On campus

On-campus students complete the diploma by attending daytime classes on a full-time basis for two years.


The distance learning option allows you to take all of your courses remotely.

You can complete the program in 2.5 years taking a full-time course load or take up to 7 years to complete the program as a part-time student. You must apply for and be accepted into the Correctional Services Distance learning program.

Distance learning course rotation

Distance courses are offered on a two-year rotational basis. However, you can complete any three-credit university English course (includes WRIT 101), PSYC 104 or PSYC 105, and SOCI 100 in any term.
