EARLY LEARNING at MACEWAN

Food & nutrition

Recognizing the critical role of nutrition in early childhood development, we are committed to providing balanced meals that promote physical health and cognitive growth.

Lunch and two snacks are provided daily. Our dedicated on-site cook crafts healthy and varied meals, incorporating foods that reflect the children’s diverse cultural backgrounds. We rotate our menu seasonally, adhering to the guidelines established in Canada’s Food Guide to ensure balanced nutrition.

We pay close attention to any allergy concerns and provide nutritious alternatives for children with dietary restrictions. Please note that ELM is a nut-free center.

ELM collaborates and is in partnership with Nourishing Beginnings, an online training program designed to provide valuable insights into feeding toddlers and preschoolers, in addition to enhancing children’s learning experiences through food. Created by nutrition and early learning experts, this resource is tailored for Alberta Early Learning in Child Care (ELCC) educators. Learn more at nourishingbeginnings.ca.

The variety of healthy from scratch meals was one of the deciding factors in our children being at ELM vs. somewhere else.
