On February 10, MacEwan University celebrated the past, present and future of its Allard Chair in Business program with a ceremony to honour the 35th Allard Chair in Business, Cameron Naqvi, and unveil a new, revamped honour wall to recognize past recipients.

Since the program was founded in 1985, the Allard Chair in Business, in partnership with the Allard Foundation, has upheld Dr. Charles Allard’s vision to recognize a distinguished businessperson and community leader, and to provide students and faculty members an opportunity to meet an inspiring role model.

The ceremony included remarks – both in-person and virtually– from Naqvi and members of MacEwan’s administration, as well as Minister of Advanced Education Demetrios Nicolaides and Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi, who described Naqvi as a trusted community builder.

Dr. Annette Trimbee, president and vice-provost, was joined by members of the Allard family as she revealed the reimagined Allard Chair in Business Honour Wall. The wall, which features a plaque celebrating each of the past chairs, features not only an updated aesthetic but also extra space for future Allard Chairs.

The ceremony also included a retrospective of past Allard Chairs in Business. Musical accompaniment was provided by the MacEwan University Big Band.
