MacEwan University has launched MyCreds™, a secure, globally accessible network that provides students and alumni with a virtual “credential wallet,” that allows them to access their educational documents anywhere, any time.
Through MyCreds™, students and alumni will be able to securely and conveniently access and share their academic documents with other colleges and universities, government, employers, immigration authorities and other third parties. Initially, MacEwan will use the platform to issue transcripts for undergraduate and continuing education students. More documents, including parchments and badges, will be phased in over time. MacEwan will also use MyCreds™ to receive inbound documents from learners to support and streamline the admissions process. Students will continue to have the option to order paper documents.
MyCreds™ is an initiative of The Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges of Canada (ARUCC). The ARUCC provides leadership in the post-secondary education field and service to its member institutions nationally and internationally, helping foster the advancement of registrarial practices and learner-focused service delivery in Canada.
“MacEwan University is excited to be partnering with ARUCC to provide our students and alumni a new innovative solution with MyCreds™,” says Dr. David McLaughlin, associate vice-president, Planning & Analysis and Registrar. “MyCreds™ will support our learners at every step of the way as they pursue their education journey here at MacEwan – and beyond.”
Documents in MyCreds™ are authentic, tamper-evident and legally valid. They contain a digital signature that meets the legal requirements of certified digital documents in countries around the world. Data remains securely under MacEwan University’s control and can only be accessed by the student, the university and whomever the student chooses to share their documents with.
“We are delighted to welcome MacEwan University to the MyCreds™ family,” says Charmaine Hack, project chair of the ARUCC National Network. “Universities and colleges in Alberta have shown remarkable initiative in adopting MyCreds™ and leveraging innovative digital technologies.”
Currently, undergraduate transcripts and School of Continuing Education transcripts are available to students through MyCreds™. Undergraduate students can request transcripts through the Academic Records tile in myStudentSystem. More information is available on the university’s Enrolment, Grades and Records web segment. Continuing Education students can request transcripts on the School of Continuing Education website.
