MacEwan University’s commitment to providing an outstanding work environment has been recognized by it being named one of Alberta’s Top 85 Employers in 2025.

MacEwan was specifically recognized for its commitment to providing faculty and staff opportunities for lifelong learning and programs that support their well-being.

“To achieve our vision Teaching Greatness and deliver an exceptional undergraduate education that inspires and empowers our students, we rely on having faculty and staff who can share their passions and bring their best to their roles,” said Dr. Annette Trimbee, MacEwan’s president and vice-chancellor. “This award recognizes their collective efforts in building a warm, collaborative and supportive environment that makes MacEwan the special place it is.”

The award program organizers cited several reasons for MacEwan’s selection as one of Alberta’s Top 85 Employers, which include:

  • A flexible health plan, which offers single, couple or family coverage. This includes benefits including $1,000 that can be allocated between health or wellness spending accounts, and coverage for mental health practitioners which ranges from $2,000 to $2,500 per year.
  • Support for life-long learning through tuition subsidies for personal and professional development, and paid education leave.
  • Helping employees balance work and their family commitments by offering personal leave for family appointments, maternity and parental leave top-up, and a child-care centre on campus.

First published in 2006, Alberta's Top Employers is an annual competition that recognizes employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.
