On May 9, 2024, the MacEwan community broke ground on the new School of Business building on the north side of campus. Now, one year later, the former empty lot looks completely different.

Currently, 100 to 120 people are working on-site each day, and construction manager Ledcor has collectively put over 160,724 work hours into the building as of April 30.

Three levels of concrete slab pours have been completed, and the fourth is currently underway – which means the seven-storeys building is over halfway to its final height. The brick exterior and curtain wall are both beginning to take shape, too.

And the skyline around the building will continue to change. In the coming weeks, the steel fabrication for the pedway to Building 8 will begin, connecting the new building to the rest of MacEwan’s campus.

Ledcor will also be collaborating with MacEwan students on a mural to decorate the scaffolding along the 109 Street sidewalk – keep an eye out for the creative installation this summer!
