Congratulations to the spring class of 2025!
This spring, more than 2,400 MacEwan graduates crossed the stage at the Winspear Centre, in front of their family and friends, to receive their well-earned degrees, diplomas and certificates.
The MacEwan community spent last week celebrating, sharing stories, cheering and, of course, taking a ton of photographs.
Meet the Class
In our Meet the Class stories, we spoke with almost 50 students from across faculties. New grads from the Faculty of Arts and Science, the Faculty of Nursing, the Faculty of Health and Community Studies, the School of Business and the Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications share stories of challenges, reaching their goals and what it was like to study at MacEwan.
In honour of the 10th anniversary of the School of Continuing Education, we asked students from this year and years past about their journeys at MacEwan.
Awards and Honours
Reyna Parikh, recipient of the President’s Medal for Academic Excellence and Student Leadership, spoke to her fellow graduates at each ceremony about the deeply personal journey of school and about giving back – including to yourself. And an additional 13 grads were recognized for their hard work and dedication with Dean’s Medals for Academic Excellence and Governor General medals.

Students aren’t the only ones we honour at convocation Dr. Amanda Nelund and Christine Pope received Distinguished Teaching Awards, and Cody Esih, Colin Waugh and Dr. Lori Harper were recognized with Sessional Instructor Teaching Excellence Awards.
This was the final convocation for MacEwan’s inaugural chancellor. Dr. Tony Fields has presided over all MacEwan convocation ceremonies for the past four years and opened ceremonies for his final time on Thursday, June 19.

We also recognize honorary doctorate recipients at convocation. This spring, three admirable Canadians became part of the MacEwan community. The Honourable Beverley McLachlin, Bernie Makokis and Linda Wedman delivered messages of recognition and celebration.

Our newest alumni joined the MacEwan alumni family – now over 93,000 strong – and were gifted with a print of mostos, an original artwork created by second-year Bachelor of Fine Arts student Jane Ester Henderson.
Convocation wouldn’t be complete without music and dance. Each ceremony featured an Indigenous performance, and the MacEwan Big Band performed for graduates and their guests.
