Welcome back to campus! There is no shortage of events and activities to keep you connected and in the zone this September. Whether it’s your first term or your last, you’re going to want to check out all that’s on offer this month.

Welcome to MacEwan!
The first day of school is September 3, the same day as the annual Downtown Campus Block Party, where 108 Street (from 102 Avenue to 104 Avenue) is blocked off to cars but wide open for you to enjoy live music, art, delicious food and interactive booths. Begin the year with some fun and start building your community!

Study series
Brush up on old skills or learn new ones at Student Life’s Fall 2025 Student Skills sessions. Bring your lunch and learn about time management, procrastination, reading and notetaking, and public speaking.

Education Abroad
Interested in travelling abroad? The Education Abroad fair takes place September 24. Stop by for swag, info and to meet students who’ve been there. If you can’t make the fair, take in an info session on September 8, 11, 16, 19 or 25 to learn all about where you can go and what you can do.

International students
Various information sessions are available this month for international students. Get answers to questions about things like study permit compliance on September 10, working while studying on September 17, co-op work on September 24 and taking a leave from school on October 1.

kihêw waciston
Everyone is welcome – and encouraged – to connect with kihêw waciston, the university's Indigenous Centre, throughout the year.

This month, kihêw waciston is hosting storytelling with Knowledge Keeper George Desjarlais on September 16, crafting every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting on September 17, a Truth First event on September 25 and a Peace Walk in collaboration with the City of Edmonton on September 30 for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Mark your calendar and watch for details at MacEwan.ca/Events and on the centre's Facebook page

Sexual violence prevention and education
Join MacEwan’s Office of Sexual Violence Prevention, Education and Response for their Fall 2025 workshop series. Attend one of the following workshops or take all of them as you work towards the Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Certificate of Recognition. Workshops include Craft and Chat: Unpacking Rape Culture on September 10, Creating a Culture of Consent on September 16, Supporting Survivors of Sexual Violence on September 18 and Bystander Intervention on September 29.

Campus Tower Gardens
And, it may soon be fall outside, but inside the MacEwan community’s growing season goes year-round with our Tower Gardens. Attend an information session on September 16 to learn about the project, hydroponics and gardening, connect with others in the MacEwan community how you can participate and enjoy fresh food you helped grow.

Important dates and deadlines
There are some key deadlines to watch for this month. September 12 is the last day to add or drop a class without financial or academic penalties. If this is your final semester, don’t forget to apply for Fall Convocation by September 15.

Tuition and fee payments are due by September 29. If you’re looking for some financial help to pay for school? Financial Aid Advisors will host drop-in sessions to talk about scholarships, awards and bursaries you might be eligible for – and how to apply – on September 8, 11, 15, 18, 25 and 29.

There will be no classes on September 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, but buildings will be open.
