Through a significant donation to the MacEwan Means Business campaign, the Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta (CPA Alberta) is helping the next generation of accountants and business graduates fulfill their dreams.

CPA Alberta celebrated its long-standing relationship with MacEwan University by making a $500,000 donation towards the university’s new School of Business building. Once complete in 2027, the new building will offer students state-of-the-art educational experiences and facilities to help them build careers that will contribute to the Edmonton and Alberta economies.

“This support from CPA Alberta is a signal of MacEwan’s strength in the relationships we have cultivated with the business sector and, importantly, the CPA profession,” says Dr. Annette Trimbee, president and vice-chancellor. “I would like to extend our thanks for this gift that sends a strong message about the calibre of our graduates who will become CPAs and business leaders in the future.”

Since 1989, CPA Alberta has worked closely with MacEwan faculty to innovate and improve the education being provided to future accountants. This partnership is a powerful demonstration of the profession’s commitment to shaping the future of business education in Edmonton.

“CPA Alberta supports business and accounting education across the province,” says Rachel Miller, FCPA, FCA, CEO, CPA Alberta. “We are proud to be a partner of the MacEwan Means Business campaign, and we look forward to welcoming many more MacEwan graduates to the profession and celebrating the new space and the province’s commitment to business education.”

By supporting the MacEwan Means Business campaign, CPA Alberta is helping ensure that students have access to the resources, spaces and experiences they need to succeed. This gift reflects their belief that a strong, well-prepared talent pipeline benefits not only MacEwan students, but also the broader Alberta business community.

Construction of the new School of Business building is already underway. The building at 109 Street and 105 Avenue will allow MacEwan to accommodate 7,500 new students as the institution continues to grow its student body – and the opportunities it offers to them – to meet the changing student demographics and demand from business, industry and the community:  with an average of 20,000 people coming onto its campus every day, MacEwan is already a key partner in the growth of the city’s downtown.
