A generous gift from Ron and Dorothy Triffo helped bring Allard Hall’s main theatre to life, creating a dedicated space for MacEwan’s performing arts students.

At the time of the theatre’s opening in 2017, Deborah Saucier, then president of MacEwan University, noted the importance of the space:

“The Triffo family are enthusiastic supporters of the arts. Educating the next generation of visual artists, musicians, actors, stage managers, curators and volunteer coordinators requires special dedicated facilities and Triffo Theatre plays a huge part in that.”

Ron and Dorothy Triffo have a long history of supporting community development across Alberta. As chairman emeritus of Stantec, Ron Triffo is recognized as an accomplished engineer, business leader and philanthropist. Together, they have championed initiatives that strengthen communities, with a particular commitment to arts and education.

“The Triffo family is proud to support MacEwan University, especially its students in the performing arts,” says Ron Triffo. “The arts are essential to a vibrant, thoughtful community. We’re pleased to help create a learning environment that inspires students to grow and excel.”

The Triffo Theatre is a 419-seat, purpose-built teaching venue equipped with industry-standard acoustics, lighting and production technology. It provides students with hands-on experience in a professional setting, supporting learning across performing arts, design studies, and arts and cultural management.

Allard Hall officially opened on September 27, 2017. The Triffo Theatre’s inaugural production was Sister Act, which opened on November 23, 2017.
