For the second year in a row, MacEwan University has been named one of Alberta’s Top 85 Employers in 2026.

“It takes a remarkable group of faculty and staff, united in the shared purpose of Teaching Greatness, to deliver an exceptional undergraduate education for our students.” said Dr. Annette Trimbee, MacEwan’s president and vice-chancellor. “It is their unwavering dedication that makes MacEwan the special place that it is.”

MacEwan was specifically recognized for its commitment to providing faculty and staff opportunities for lifelong learning and programs that support their well-being.

The award program organizers cited several reasons for MacEwan’s selection as one of Alberta’s Top 85 Employers, which include:

  • A flexible health plan, which offers single, couple or family coverage. These benefits include $1,000 that can be allocated between health or wellness spending accounts, and coverage for mental health practitioners which ranges from $2,000 to $2,500 per year.
  • Support for life-long learning through tuition subsidies for personal and professional development.
  • Onsite supports such as a childcare centre on campus that promotes work-life balance.

“MacEwan is focused on connections – with our students, with our colleagues and with the community,” said Helen Ngan-Paré, associate vice-president of Human Resources. “It feels great to be part of an institution that truly cares about helping our students graduate and pursue their dreams.”

First established in 2006, Alberta's Top Employers is an annual competition that recognizes employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.
