Michelle Stevenson is MacEwan University’s new associate vice-president, Alumni Relations and Development.
A MacEwan alum, Stevenson has an extensive record of building trusted working relationships with MacEwan alumni and donors, as well as key campus partners, including faculty, staff and senior administration. She has been with the university since 2010 and has a lengthy list of accomplishments, including developing and leading a team that effectively engages with MacEwan’s more than 100,000 alumni, building relationships between MacEwan and its neighbouring communities and other post-secondary institutions, attracting corporate donors and playing a key role in establishing the MacEwan University Alumni Association. Stevenson has held director positions in both the Office of the President and Alumni and Development.
“Michelle has been a valued member of the MacEwan community for many years, and her leadership has been instrumental in shaping alumni relations into the strong, strategic function it is today. She has been transformative in how she engages with our alumni and builds strong affinity,” said Lara McClelland, vice-president, University Relations. “She has a remarkable ability to build meaningful, lasting relationships with our graduates and community partners, and to translate those connections into collaborations that benefit both our alumni and the university. In this role, Michelle will continue to be a thoughtful strategic advisor, while elevating fundraising and donor relationships.”
Stevenson holds a Master of Arts in Communications and Technology and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta, and a Public Relations Diploma from MacEwan. A former member of MacEwan’s Griffins women’s basketball team, Stevenson was also a Special Olympics basketball coach and a vice-president of the YMCA Edmonton Board of Directors.
The associate vice-president, Alumni Relations and Development, advances the goals of MacEwan University in continuing to elevate the university’s profile, building and maintaining long-term relationships, strategic partnerships, fund development and revenue generation to support MacEwan in its mission, core values and Teaching Greatness: Strategic Vision 2030.
Working closely with senior administration, the associate vice-president ensures the integration, oversight and coordination of the Advancement and Alumni Relations team to support MacEwan’s strategic advancement with reputation-building, relationship development and fundraising objectives.
