The new School of Business building will be open before we know it. Let’s take a look back at the last 22 months as we’ve watched an empty tract of land turn into a seven-story tall structure.

Strong support from the Government of Alberta and donors to the MacEwan Means Business campaign kept MacEwan on track for inviting learners into our new building for the Winter 2027 term.

In creating space for an additional 7,500 students, MacEwan ensured that Alberta has the educated talent it needs for our province’s strong future.

Two years ago, on this vacant piece of land, our dreams began to turn into reality.

First, we got the site ready to start the construction of MacEwan’s new School of Business building.

When the cranes arrived, we knew the really exciting work had begun.

A large construction site that contains two floors of a building covered in plastic, two cranes are erected at the site.
Seeing the building rise from the ground had us on the edge of our seats.

The building now at five floors, only concrete and metal so far. The plastic has been removed from the exterior.
The School of Business started to rise above the buildings next to it and the scale of what was to come became real.

On the inside, we started to see the heart of the new building – an open and welcoming atrium.

On the top of the building, which is concrete and rebar, people stand on the roof in safety gear and there's a crane in the frame
When we put the roof on top of all seven floors, the views were impeccable.

In August 2025, the 90-foot, 39,000-pound pedway was added, connecting the School of Business to the rest of campus.

On the inside, we could see future classrooms take shape.

If you go by the site now, you can see a true sense of what the building will look like when it’s complete.

We can’t wait to invite our students and community into this new space in the new year.
