The MacEwan Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity offers a unique and valuable opportunity to receive training and mentorship on queer leadership.
As a member of the Queer Leadership Team, you assist the Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity with on-campus programming. You learn community leadership skills, connect with other campus leaders and help build a culture of queer inclusion on campus.

This volunteer opportunity is open to MacEwan students of all genders and sexual orientations who are registered for the 2026/27 school year. You must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application and have completed at least one full year of studies in any program in a post-secondary environment. You must have a proven track record of relevant volunteer work that aligns with the goals of the Queer Leadership Team.
As a member of the Queer Leadership Team, you are expected to meet the following requirements:
- Maintain good standing in their coursework.
- Commit five to seven hours per week to volunteer duties, both independently and collaboratively.
- Uphold the philosophies of the MacEwan Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity and represent the best of MacEwan University.
- Attend all mandatory training sessions in the fall and winter terms, and commit to attending at least 80% of weekly meetings, with non-attendance well communicated in advance.
- Attend three (3) full training days in the fall of 2026 and one (1) full training day in the winter of 2027.

There are three steps in the selection process:
- Complete the Queer Leadership Team application form no later than Friday, June 12, 2026.
- Short-listed applicants are invited to an interview with CSGD staff and volunteers. Only short-listed applicants will be contacted.
- Successful applicants must complete our comprehensive volunteer training in August and September 2026 and January 2027.
