MacEwan Anti-Violence Education Network (MAVEN) Peer Education Program offers a unique and valuable opportunity to receive comprehensive training on sexual violence prevention. When you complete the training, you become a Peer Educator and are given opportunities to create a culture of consent at MacEwan by facilitating workshops and assisting with outreach activities.
This program is designed to foster and support student leadership, recognizing that you are a powerful agent for social change.

This volunteer opportunity is open to students of all genders who are registered at MacEwan University during the 2024/25 school year. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application. We are looking for empathetic, non-judgmental and dedicated individuals who want to contribute to the campus community in a meaningful way. In particular, we are looking for students with strong time-management skills, who are familiar with campus life, have a willingness to learn new skills and a desire to actively contribute to a world without violence.
- MAVEN Peer Educators are required to complete 52 hours of training in Fall 2024 and a training retreat in January 2025. Attendance at all training sessions is mandatory. Dates for 2024/25 training sessions:

- Peer Educators are expected to regularly attend weekly team meetings throughout the academic year, held on Monday afternoons from 4 to 6 p.m.
- Peer Educators must be able to dedicate 10 to 15 hours per month to their volunteer activities.
- Peer Educators must commit to both Fall and Winter semesters in 2024/25.
The selection process has three steps:
- Complete and submit the MAVEN Peer Educator application no later than May 5, 2024.
- Short-listed applicants will be invited to take part in an interview with the Sexual Violence Prevention and Education Coordinator, beginning in March. Only short-listed applicants will be contacted.
- Successful applicants must complete our comprehensive volunteer training during August and September 2024.
