Experiential Learning
There is no substitute for hands-on learning. These experiential learning courses provide you with the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings—working with actual clients, organizations or research teams. As you gain deeper insight into your chosen field, you’ll also develop job-ready skills that prepare you for professional success beyond the university.
Course enrolment may follow a competitive application process. Enrolment is considered competitive in courses where the number of qualified applicants regularly exceeds the number of seats available. This means you may need to achieve a higher GPA or grade in the prerequisite courses to be successful during the application process. If applicable, additional criteria will be listed for each opportunity.
COSL 300 Community Service Learning: Building Local Community
Open to: All Faculty of Arts and Science students with minimum third‐year standing
Term: Fall, Winter, Spring, Spring/Summer
Deadline to apply: Applications will be accepted until the projects are full or until the add/drop deadline of the course.
Gain hands-on experience with a community partner in COSL 300 at MacEwan University. Build workplace skills through interdisciplinary, real-world projects.
STAT 496 Statistical Consulting Project
Open to: All statistics students

The aim of this course is to give you experience in statistical consultation. You are assigned to research projects as a consultant, where you consider ethical statistical practice, choose appropriate statistical techniques and communicate results to a non‐mathematical audience.
STAT 497 Applied Statistics Internship

This course gives you practical experience in a work environment. You engage in work‐integrated learning through employment or an internship in industry or a research organization.
WINL 300 Work Integrated Learning Individual Study
Open to: All Faculty of Arts and Science students

In WINL 300, students engage in work integrated learning through employment that typically lasts for one semester.
WINL 301 Work Integrated Learning Within a Class Setting
Open to: All Faculty of Arts and Science students
Term: Winter

In WINL 301, you engage in work‐integrated learning through a placement with an agency or community organization. This may be a paid position (employment) or an unpaid one (volunteer), combined with course‐based instruction. The aim is to help you develop the ability to integrate your learning through both academic and work-related activities.
