Academic Advisors can be found in the MacEwan Academic Advising Centre as well as the faculties and schools.

The Advising Centre is the primary source of general academic advising for all students at MacEwan University (including admissions, program options, Open Studies and more). Our goal is to provide clear information and direct you to additional resources on campus when you need them.

Due to COVID-19, all academic advising will be offered remotely at this time. Please connect with us in one of the following three ways.

With many ways to reach an advisor, please do not submit duplicate requests or inquiries as it delays our response times. An academic advisor will follow up to your initial inquiry.

  1. Book an appointment – Schedule your one-on-one with an academic advisor.

Winter 2021 add/drop period quick connect appointments
    Monday, January 4 – Friday, January 15

In order to assist as many students as possible, 15-minute quick connect appointments will be available each business day (Monday to Friday) during the add/drop period. You can choose your format (phone or virtual via Google Meet). Appointments will be made available around 8:30 a.m. each day. Our regular appointments will be available starting Monday, January 18, 2021.

  2. Chat with an advisor – Ask an advisor your general inquiries through our LiveChat services.

    Winter 2021 add/drop period
    Monday, January 4 – Friday, January 15
    9 – 11 a.m. and 1 – 3 p.m.

    Regular term hours
    Monday to Friday (excluding Tuesdays)
    9 – 11 a.m. and 1 – 3 p.m.

  3. Email – Submit your question via email.

As a central service area, we experience a high volume of email inquiries. We aim to respond to inquiries within four business days. Please use your MacEwan student email account and include your 7-digit Student ID number if you have received one.

Faculty and School Academic Advisors

All current students enrolled in a specific program should contact their program academic advisors for their advising questions.

Program advisors are able to guide students through processes of academic planning (which courses to take), obtaining special permissions (visiting student, credit overloads), the placement of assessed Transfer Credit (credits taken outside of MacEwan that have been assessed and posted to your course history) and any other program-specific inquiries. Find your program advisor in the Contact Us page of your program's web segment.
