Applied AI and Data Analytics for Decision-Making & Professional Communication
Executive Professional Development for International Students
This certificate will help you develop hands‐on experience with data management and quality practices, analytical methods and contemporary visualization tools, while integrating AI‐enabled tools to enhance productivity and analytical capability.
In addition to training in applied AI and data analytics, you will gain professional communication skills in a Canadian business context, including writing and speaking. Students also have the opportunity to work on a capstone project for a local organization and gain relevant experience in the Canadian industry through a 140 hour work‐integrated learning course.
Please note: This is a non‐credit certificate program. Students in this program may not transfer into credit programming. The Applied AI and Data Analytics for Decision‐Making and Professional Communication takes 12 months to complete.
Learning and career growth
In this program, you will learn to:
- Collect, prepare, and manage datasets using appropriate data management and data quality practices.
- Apply analytical methods to explore datasets, identify patterns and generate actionable insights.
- Use data visualization techniques and tools to communicate analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Use AI‐enabled analytical tools to support data exploration, modeling and productivity within analytics workflows.
- Evaluate data sources, analytical outputs, and AI‐assisted insights using principles of responsible data governance, ethics, privacy and bias mitigation.
- Develop data‐informed recommendations that support organizational and strategic decisions.

Steps to apply
- Register for a MacEwan account to get started. You will be asked to provide personal information including your name, date of birth, and home address.
- After you have registered and signed in, you will be asked to identify what program and term you are applying for.
- Applicants must submit four documents (if applicable, provide the colour copy of the document):
- Proof of academic credential. This includes a post secondary degree or equivalent in their original form, translated into English.
- Your professional resume with at least one year work experience in industry.
- Proof of English Language Proficiency. Successful applicants require a minimum English language proficiency of Academic IELTS 6.0 on each band or TOEFL/CBT 80.
- Citizenship and immigration documents, which may include one of the following four options:
- Landed Immigrant papers
- Permanent Residency Card
- Convention Refugee Documentation
- Photocopy of Passport picture page
- Identify your country of citizenship, your primary language, and an emergency contact.
- Pay a non-refundable $110.00 application fee using a credit card or Interac online to complete your application.

Fees
Tuition fees are $18,700.00 (CAD). Fees are in Canadian dollars and are subject to change. Textbook costs and material fees are included. Program fee does not include accommodation or travel.
A non‐refundable $110.00 (CAD) Application Fee is required to assess your credentials and evaluate the application.
An additional $1,281.21 (CAD) is not included in the $18,700.00 fee. These are non‐academic fees* which include:
- Medical Clinic Fee – $5.00 (charged every term)
- SAMU Building Levy Fee – $35.00 (charged every term)
- Special Student Membership Fee – $172.57 (charged every term)
- UPass Fee – $180 (charged every term)
- Tech Fee – $34.50 (charged all three terms)

Capstone Project
The Capstone Project is completed in the classroom and provides hands-on opportunities to work with local organizations to apply in-class learning and gain relevant experience in a Canadian industry.
Work-Integrated Learning (WIL)
During the work‐integrated learning opportunity, you gain experience applying the knowledge and skills you developed in the program to a Canadian workplace environment. You are placed onsite into a partner organization to complete approximately 140 hours of work‐integrated learning. WIL is mandatory and is typically unpaid.
Work placement eligibility
International students must have a valid study permit with authorization to work on campus written on their permit before starting their field placement, clinical practice or practicum. If you plan to work with vulnerable populations in a health, community or medical field, you need an up‐to‐date medical exam by an IRCC‐approved panel physician before starting the work placement.
