Digital Experience Design & Professional Communication
Executive Professional Development for International Students
The Digital Experience Design (DXD) courses, also known as User Experience Design (UXD), will provide you with the latest industry tools and practices to help you meet the emerging needs of a rapidly changing technological environment on an international level.
This program will focus on the development of digital products, prototypes and mockups such as websites and apps. Students will be equipped with new skills and design strategies and will be able to better assess client requirements and achieve the desired results. Students in this program will also develop their professional communication skills to prepare them for a successful career in Canada.
Please note: This is a non-credit certificate program. Students in this program may not transfer into credit programming. The Digital Experience Design & Professional Communication certificate takes 12 months to complete.
Learning and career growth
In this program, you will learn to:
- Understand and identify client problems, recognize user needs and translate these into wireframes, prototypes and visual interfaces.
- Recognize user behaviours and motivations, translate these into goals and tasks and apply to the layout of a visual interface.
- Apply user experience and interaction design principles to the creation of wireframes, prototypes and/or mockups.
- Design visual interfaces for websites and software applications.
- Select and use software tools best suited to the circumstances.
- Communicate ideas, information and digital experience design principles in spoken (presentation to a client) and written (concept, proposal) forms.

Steps to apply
- Register for a MacEwan account to get started. You will be asked to provide personal information including your name, date of birth, and home address.
- After you have registered and signed in, you will be asked to identify what program and term you are applying for.
- Applicants must submit four documents (if applicable, provide the colour copy of the document):
- Proof of academic credential. This includes a post secondary degree or equivalent in their original form, translated into English.
- Your professional resume with at least one year work experience in industry.
- Proof of English Language Proficiency. Successful applicants require a minimum English language proficiency of Academic IELTS 6.0 on each band or TOEFL/CBT 80.
- Citizenship and immigration documents, which may include one of the following four options:
- Landed Immigrant papers
- Permanent Residency Card
- Convention Refugee Documentation
- Photocopy of Passport picture page
- Identify your country of citizenship, your primary language, and an emergency contact.
- Pay a non-refundable $110.00 application fee using a credit card or Interac online to complete your application.

Fees
Tuition fees are $18,700.00 (CAD). Fees are in Canadian dollars and are subject to change. Textbook costs and material fees are included. Program fee does not include accommodation or travel.
A non‐refundable $110.00 (CAD) Application Fee is required to assess your credentials and evaluate the application.
An additional $1,281.21 (CAD) is not included in the $18,700.00 fee. These are non‐academic fees* which include:
- Medical Clinic Fee – $5.00 (charged every term)
- SAMU Building Levy Fee – $35.00 (charged every term)
- Special Student Membership Fee – $172.57 (charged every term)
- UPass Fee – $180 (charged every term)
- Tech Fee – $34.50 (charged all three terms)
* Non-academic fees are subject to change. Non-academic fees are effective from the Winter 2026 intake onwards. Payment deadlines can be found in our FAQs.

The Capstone Project provides hands-on opportunities to work with local organizations to apply in-class learning and gain relevant experience in a Canadian industry
