Pathways to Post-Secondary

The Pathways to Post-secondary admission option gives you the chance to start your university journey even if you’re missing one high school course requirement. This means you can begin working on first-year university courses while you complete your outstanding high school course.

Five programs are eligible for the Pathways to Post-secondary admission:

Bachelor of Arts (BA)

Bachelor of Commerce (BCom)

Bachelor of Early Childhood Curriculum Studies (BECCS)

Bachelor of Science (BSc)

Business Management diploma

Insurance and Risk Management

How it works

If you are missing no more than one high school course requirement, you may be eligible for conditional admission to an eligible university program through the Pathways to Post-secondary admission option.

Conditional admission holds your place in your program for up to one year while you complete the missing high school requirement through the School of Continuing Education. During this time, you can also enrol in up to three eligible university-level courses per term.

Once you successfully complete your missing requirement and satisfy all other program admission requirements, your conditional admission becomes full admission, and you can continue directly into your program.

You cannot apply directly to the Pathways admission option. You apply to an eligible program through Apply Alberta. If you are missing one required high school course, you may be offered conditional admission through the Pathways admission option.
