MacEwan University’s Professional Health Education unit is an experienced provider of flexible, in-demand modules and programs that give you the opportunity to stay up to date in your field and advance your knowledge on current practice, theory, and technology.

Our programs include:

Critical Care/Emergency Nursing
Emergency Nursing and Critical Care is a demanding and essential part of healthcare services. This program is designed to help graduate nurses, LPNs, RPNS, RNs expand their knowledge and develop skills for working in the emergency room or in critical care environments.

Hospice Palliative Care
International program
This program is perfect for learners who have a passion for caring for others and enhancing the life of people living with acute or chronic life-threatening illnesses. From topics like pain management to ethics in palliative care, learners in this program emerge well-equipped to become compassionate healthcare professionals in their communities.

Gerontology
International program
Specializing in gerontological nursing prepares healthcare professionals for leadership roles in continuing care, acute care, community nursing, home care, health promotion and primary care. This program prepares learners to take on an important role in the lives of older patients while working with compassion and dedication.

Urogynecological Wellness Practitioner
The care given to women with urogynecological issues has a significant impact on their quality of life. Healthcare professionals need specialized education and experience to provide the best quality of care to their patients. Learners in this program will emerge with an in-depth education and valuable work experience from a field placement opportunity.

Life Support Training
Life support takes a cool head, steady hands and, most importantly, the right training. We offer training in both Basic Life Support and First Aid. These courses are available to the general public.

Nursing Professional Development
Distance and online self-study courses are offered to regulated health care professionals to stay up-to-date on current technology, practice or to recertify their credentialing.
