BACHELOR of DESIGN

illustration Pathway

PATHWAY | BACHELOR OF DESIGN

Drawing, painting, illustration, motion graphics—this pathway integrates your interest and talent in design and studio arts. Develop your skills and apply your creativity while learning what being an illustrator in the design industry is all about.

This is the only pathway that integrates traditional studio arts courses with design courses. Drawing and painting on paper and canvas are complemented by digital work in illustration and 3D animation.

What to expect

When you choose this pathway, you learn to use illustration as a communication tool. Through studio art drawing and painting courses, you hone your creative expertise through analog formats. These more traditional skills are developed alongside the technical and digital skills you need for illustrating print publications and digital media, such as the web, video and animation.

The expertise you gain in each area—painting, drawing, illustration, motion graphics—come together in a visual narrative and storytelling class, where you apply what you’ve learned to projects with a defined narrative.
