BACHELOR of DESIGN

photography, video & motion graphics Pathway

PATHWAY | BACHELOR OF DESIGN

Learn to create visual messages that demand a viewers attention and deliver a compelling message. Bringing together the visual mediums of photography, videography and motion graphics, this pathway prepares visual storytellers to make creative decisions that rely on technological and aesthetic expertise.

What to expect

In photography courses, you begin by learning basic concepts, such as lighting, exposure and colour composition, and you are introduced to industry standard software. As your technical expertise grows, you learn analytical skills that help you to guide creative decision making. Videography, like photography, relies on expert use of colour, light and composition, but you also learn how to use audio and visual editing techniques to influence your message and your audience’s perceptions. You are introduced to video editing software and learn post-production techniques for short and long-form videos. In the motion graphics medium, you learn principles of motion, time, colour, sound and space using industry standard software. You build on these skills in the advanced course, working on projects that introduce compositing, character animation, motion branding and concept development.

A visual storytelling class integrates all three disciplines, teaching you how to choose the best medium or combination of mediums to meet clients’ needs in a particular situation.
