EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS and RESPONSE
Field Placement
In a fast-paced, hands-on profession like emergency dispatch, theory can only take you so far. MacEwan's communication lab uses advanced software to simulate the real-world environment.
In your final term, you complete a field placement that connects your classroom learning to real workplace experience. You’re supported by program faculty and experienced professionals working in emergency communications and response. Placements are typically scheduled on Fridays, but may also take place on weekdays, weekends or holidays, with either day or evening shifts.
International students must have a valid study permit with authorization to work on campus written on their permit before starting their field placement, clinical practice or practicum. If you plan to work with vulnerable populations in a health, community or medical field, you need an up-to-date medical exam by an IRCC-approved panel physician before starting the work placement.
You must contact MacEwan International to check your student work placement eligibility.
