Study options

You can complete your diploma via full-time study on-campus in a minimum of two years, or study part-time online and complete your diploma in a minimum of 3.5 years.

Part-time and distance study

Although courses are offered part-time online, it is important to note that they are term-specific with set dates for assignments and exams, and each 3-credit course will require 10 to 15 hours a week of your time. The time of the day you choose to be online and/or working on your assignments is generally up to you.

As a part-time student you are encouraged to complete the program within five years but have up to seven years. It will take you a minimum of 3.5 years to complete the program depending on the course offerings.

Note: Students who take a break in studies of twelve (12) consecutive months or more will need to reapply.

Distance Learning Course Rotation (2020–2024)

We recommend that students complete the English requirement (WRIT 101 – First Year Writing) and PSYC 104 (Introductory Psychology I) courses prior to starting Year II courses.

WRIT 101 and PSYC 104 are available in all terms at MacEwan University on campus and online. You MUST obtain a Letter of Permission and course equivalency confirmation from the Office of the University Registrar PRIOR to enrolling in a course at another post-secondary institution.

  • The Therapist Assistant program and/or MacEwan University reserves the right to cancel courses based on enrolment and/or instructor availability.
  • It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that all prerequisites are completed prior to enrolling in a class.
