TRAVEL and TOURISM

STUDY TOURs

MacEwan’s Travel and Tourism diploma offers an optional international study component every year to give students first-hand experience of a destination and to put to use some of what they have learned during their studies.

Students spend 10 to 12 days familiarizing themselves with the travel process during these trips. They may visit airports, hotels, resorts, cruise ships, and major tourist attractions. In line with the practical emphasis of the program, this hands-on trip will help students understand the travel process from their clients’ perspective.

Students are expected to prepare an objective report to be used as a resource file in a job situation. They will have the opportunity to network during industry functions and meet with representatives of the local travel and tourism community. This course is worth three credits and the cost of the tour is in addition to regular tuition.

Trips vary each year but have included such destinations as the Caribbean, China, Europe, and most recently Costa Rica.
