SAFE AT MACEWAN

Stolen & Lost Property

Stolen bicycle? Missing laptop? Lost cell phone or wallet? Make MacEwan University safer by reporting theft and taking steps to protect your personal property.

If an item is lost or stolen

If you have lost a valuable item or if you think it has been stolen, report the situation to campus security. We can check the lost and found for you, make a record of the missing item and report the situation to Edmonton Police Services if needed. You will be asked to provide your name and contact information, along with a full description of the missing item. That way, if the item is located, you can be contacted. Check back at Security Services after one week to see if the item was returned.

Found items are held for a minimum of 30 days. Items of apparent value are kept for 90 days. Campus Security attempts to identify the owner of the property.

Protect your property

Make it difficult for thieves to target you.

  • Keep hallway lockers and gym lockers locked at all times.
  • Never leave electronics (e.g., cell phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) or other items unattended. Secure valuables by locking them up (e.g., in a locker, glove box, trunk), watching them or keeping them out of sight.
  • Regularly back up content on your tablet or laptop.
  • Park your bike in the basement of the Robbins Health Learning Centre, where there is a surveillance camera.
  • Register your bike with Edmonton Bike Index and/or record bicycle and electronics serial numbers for easier tracking.
Register your bike
MacEwan’s Security Services partners with the Edmonton Police Service to encourage MacEwan cyclists to register their bikes with the Edmonton Bike Index. If your bicycle is ever lost or stolen, you have a better chance of recovering it.
