SAFE AT MACEWAN
Stolen and Lost Property
Stolen bicycle? Missing laptop? Lost cell phone or wallet? Make MacEwan University safer by reporting theft and taking steps to protect your personal property.
If an item is lost or stolen
If you have lost an item, contact Campus Security Services (497-5554) or visit the Security Office in Building 9 (9-112) to report the lost item.
You will be asked to provide your name and contact information, along with a full description of the missing item. That way, if the item is located, you can be contacted. Check back at the Lost and Found desk after one week to see if the item was returned.
If you believe an item has been stolen, report the incident to Campus Security Services, preferably in person, as soon as possible. Where appropriate, security personnel may advise a police report to be filed.
Items with little or no monetary value will be held for up to 15 days. Valuable items, such as wallets, cash, passports, laptops and similar property, will be held for up to 30 days.
Tips for protecting your property
- Keep hallway lockers and gym lockers locked at all times. Use a high-quality lock to secure your locker
- Never leave electronics (e.g., cell phones, tablets, laptops, etc.) or other items unattended. Secure valuables by locking them up (e.g., in a locker, glove box, trunk), watching them or keeping them out of sight.
- Regularly back up content on your tablet or laptop.
- Park your bike in the basement of the Robbins Health Learning Centre, where there is a surveillance camera. Use a high-quality lock to secure your bike.
- Register your bike with Edmonton Bike Index and/or record bicycle and electronics serial numbers for easier tracking.
