Spring is here, and we’re wrapping up the winter term with a busy month of events and activities. So take out your phone and get ready to put some exciting April events into your calendar – we have something for everyone this month.

Last call to see The Drowsy Chaperone! The theatrical production runs through April 3, and proceeds from the April 1 performance will go toward supporting Ukraine through the Canada-Ukraine Foundation. If music is your thing, check out MacEwan.ca/MusicSeason for dates and tickets for student performances ranging from songwriters to big band and everything in between. And if you gravitate toward visual arts, check out the Studio Arts Grad Show, from April 8 to 23.

April is the Month of Scholarship, so all month long there will be plenty of opportunities to see what faculty and student researchers have been up to. You can take part by attending events like Trendsetting Through Meaningful Partnerships: A Conversation On Community Engaged Scholarship on April 4 and Student Research Day on April 21. If you won’t be on campus, you can still take part by tuning in to the Research Recast(ed) podcast – check MacEwan.ca/CelebrateScholarship for upcoming episodes, and Month of Scholarship events.

At MacEwan, we never shy away from talking about important social issues. If you’re interested in hearing new perspectives or helping your community, you might want to check out the Harm Reduction Resource Fair on April 6, Explore the Rainbow Part III: Transgender Storytelling Panel on April 8 and the Interdisciplinary Dialogue Project wrap-up Celebration of Community and Learning, featuring special guest Mayor Amarjeet Sohi on April 22.

Looking to get more involved in your campus community? National Volunteer Week takes place April 24 to 30, and it’s a great time to visit MacEwan.ca/Volunteer and sign up to assist with Spring Convocation, volunteer at the Mitchell Art Gallery or apply to become a MacEwan Ambassador (the application deadline is April 8).

Our 50th anniversary year is wrapping up with a bang! Join MacEwan students, staff, alumni and community members to officially celebrate our big 5-0 at 50th On Fourth, April 29 and 30 – we’re talking performances, tours, workshops, a barbecue and more. Want to learn more about MacEwan’s first 50 years? Check out our digital timeline, community builders map and stories to get all caught up.

Finally, if you’re a student looking to get a little work experience under your belt after finals are over, then the Virtual Summer Career Fair on April 27 is just the event for you.
